Tattoo After Care

Second Skin type Bandages

Clear bandage that adheres directly to the skin on and around your fresh tattoo.

Wet Heal. The tattoo stays wet under the bandage with your bodies fluids that typically heal a wound(and create scabs) remain under the bandage and can be minimal or create a bubble of Ink coloured fluids.

Stays on 2-5 days. Can remove when the edges begin rolling up.

Removing in the shower is often easiest, pulling from the edge to stretch the bandage as opposed to pulling directly away from the skin.

Once bandage is removed, wash with unscented soap and pat dry with a clean towel. Keep area clean and dry until the skin feels like your skin again!

Use sunscreen and moisturizer as you would everywhere else to keep your skin healthy, resulting in better looking tattoos as they age.

Short Term type Bandages

Black or blue opaque padded bandage.

Dry Heal. Your tattoo will scab and can be left to heal like any other cut or scrape you’ve had. Your eyes see a tattoo, but your body just knows its a wound needing to heal and will take care of itself!

Stays on until you’re home and ready to clean/the following morning.

Once bandage is removed, wash with unscented soap and pat dry with a clean towel. Keep area clean and dry until the skin feels like your skin again!

A small amount of unscented moisturizer can be used for your comfort if your tattoo is feeling tight/overly dry, but does not aide in the healing process.

Use sunscreen and moisturizer as you would everywhere else to keep your skin healthy, resulting in better looking tattoos as they age.

Always:

Wash hands prior to removing bandage or applying ointment/lotion

Tattoos typically take 2-4 weeks to heal and can be shorter or longer depending on how your body heals.

If you notice redness under the clear bandage you can remove it, following the instructions.

If you have redness/excessive tenderness or any problem areas during healing, you can use a small amount of polysporin to aid in the healing, but only apply a small amount to the affected area.

Consult your physician within 24 hours if any signs of infection arise.
